Ashill is a village, situated around 3 miles north west of Ilminster, 8 miles south of Taunton, in the south of the county of Somerset. Ashill is home to a public house called the Ashill Inn; a producer of farmhouse cider, from where traditional scrumpy cider can be purchased straight from the barrel; a tiny primary school educating local children from four to eleven years of age; the grade 2 listed St Mary's church; and a well-used village hall.

Ashill in past times. Ashill, is a parish in the hundred of Abdick and Bulstone, in the county of Somerset, 6 miles to the north of Chard. Taunton is its post town. The Chard Canal passes near it. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Bath and Wells, in the patronage of Wells Cathedral. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. In the reign of Edward II, a charter for a weekly market on Wednesday was obtained by Thomas de Multon, then lord of the manor; also for fairs on three Saints' days. A fair is now held on Easter Monday. There is a spring, called Skipperham Well, the water of which is considered useful in scorbutic conditions. Transcribed from 'The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland' (1868)

Historical note:  Ashill was known as Aiselle in the 11th Century and as Asshulle in the 14th Century.
