The Church of St Catherine in Montacute has 12th century origins, and is a Grade II listed building. St. Catherine's church contains monuments to the Phelips family including David and Ann, who died in 1484, and Bridget, who died 1508. There are also rather fine canopied effigies of Thomas, and Elizabeth, dating back to the late 16th century. On the west wall is a marble monument to Edward Phelips, who died in 1690. A rather fine Anglo-Saxon Hamstone font is also present. In addition a number of used books are available for purchase to help with funds for the upkeep of this splendid Somerset church.
