Curry Rivel is a village in Somerset, England, it is situated six miles west of Somerton and ten miles east of Taunton in the South Somerset district. Curry Rivel has a population of around 2,000. The word Curry in Curry Rivel as nothing to do with the spicy Indian dish but derives from the Celtic word crwy, meaning boundary. Notable points of interest include the 13th century St. Andrew's Church and the 140 feet Pynsent Column - also known as the Curry Rivel Column - which stands on Troy Hill, just outside the town.
